What You’ll Do as a Junior Leader
Junior Leaders gain real responsibility and hands-on development through:

Facilitating Play-Based Learning: Support activities that help younger participants grow skills.

Community Service Projects: Lead and participate in service action crews that make real impact locally.

Team Collaboration: Work with staff and peers to help shape the Basecamp experience.

Leadership Challenges: Take on tasks that build accountability, decision-making, and initiative.
Who This Is For • Qualifications
Youth who qualify through the Office of Employment & Training (OET) partnership and local workforce pathways are eligible to participate.
Eligibility Requirements

Be a resident of Ulster County or greater Kingston service area.

Meet age requirements for youth employment under OET programs (typically 14+ for work eligibility in NY State; minimum age for most employment is 14 unless otherwise specified by OET guidelines).

Committed to participating in scheduled Basecamp experiences and service projects.

Demonstrate reliability and a willingness to learn and lead.
About the Junior Leaders Program
This paid leadership program empowers youth to step into meaningful roles within One Strike Basecamps. Through guided play, hands-on community action, and accountability-driven experiences, Junior Leaders build leadership, teamwork, communication, and civic engagement skills — all while supporting Basecamp activities and serving the community.
